DESCRIPTION:In this FEDSpace, Jack Worth, Lead Economist at NFER will be sharing key trends from the Teacher Labour Market in England Annual Report 2025. This report provides an overview of the latest trends in teacher recruitment, retention, pay and working conditions, and insights on the overall state of teacher supply. Following Jack’s presentation, we will have the opportunity to discuss key themes and consider implications for the recruitment and retention of our education workforce, including potential solutions. Jack and Natasha Armstrong, Head of Impact Strategy for NFER, will join us for the discussion.\nPanellists:\nJack Worth is the School Workforce Lead at the National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER). An expert researcher and commentator on the school workforce, Jack’s research aims to understand changes in the recruitment, retention, development and diversity of teachers in the UK. A specialist with analysing large datasets including the School Workforce Census and Labour Force Survey, Jack uses statistical analysis to gain insights for policy and practice. Jack’s research is regularly cited in parliament and by media outlets, recently including the BBC, ITV, The Financial Times, The Telegraph, The Daily Express, The Mirror, TES, Schools Week and more.\nNatasha Armstrong is the Head of Impact Strategy at the National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER). Prior to joining NFER, Natasha was Director of Programmes, Impact &amp; Innovation at BookTrust and Director of Services at School-Home Support. She started her career as a Teacher and Leaving Care practitioner, moving to the charity sector to design and scale programmes for children and young people, including working at Shift supporting social organisations to maximise their impact.\n
